Newborn Sleep Essentials (Safe + Simple Setup)
Sleep Space Setup
Newborn:
Graco Pack ‘n Play Dome LX (Replacing a Bassinet)
Instead of registering for a separate bassinet, I chose the Graco Pack ‘n Play Dome LX to simplify our newborn sleep setup.
I love that it provides a safe, elevated sleep space for the newborn stage right next to our bed. At the same time, it converts into a full-size placard as baby grows – which makes it a smarter long-term investment.
Rather than buying something we’d only use for a few months, this gives us flexibility beyond the newborn phase.
To make it even more comfortable and functional, I paired the Graco Pack ‘n Play with:
– A properly sized Pack n Play mattress pad
– Fitted mini crib sheets (38×24) made specifically for this size
This setup replaces a bassinet entirely for us and keeps everything simple and streamlined.
Once baby’s ready for a crib…
While we’re starting with the Pack ‘n Play for the newborn stage, the long-term plan is transitioning baby into their crib once they’re ready.
We already have our full crib and mattress setup planned, including a firm, breathable mattress and properly fitted sheets designed specifically for safe sleep.

Best Swaddles for Newborn Sleep
SwaddleMe by Ingenuity Swaddles
Swaddling can be a game changer for newborn sleep, and I added the SwaddleMe swaddles. The secure Velcro closure keeps baby snug without complicated wrapping, which I know I’ll appreciate during late night insomnia changes.
They’re soft, breathable, and designed to help reduce the startle reflex – which means longer stretches of sleep for everyone.
Muslin Swaddle Blankets (Lulumoon + LifeTree)
I also added a few Muslin Swaddle Blankets because they’re incredibly versatile. These are lightweight and breathable, making them perfect for:
– Swaddling
– Nursing covers
– Burp cloth backups
– Stroller blankets
– Layering during naps
Muslin gets softer with every wash, and I love having multiple on hand because newborns go through everything quickly.
Konssy Baby Blanket
This is more of a cozy layering piece for supervised snuggles and contact naps. It’s soft, neutral, and fits the nursery aesthetic while still being practical. Not for a crib sleep, but perfect for cuddles and calming moments.

Hatch Baby Sound Machine + Night Light
The Hatch sound machine is one of those items I’ve heard recommended over and over. I love that it combines white noise and a nightlight in one device. Consistent sound can help block out household noise, and the adjustable lighting makes nighttime feeds less disruptive.
I also love that you can adjust colors and settings as they get older or change preferences.
