Nursery Must-Haves for First-Time Moms: What I Selected
Designing our baby’s nursery has been extremely rewarding. I wanted a space that feels calm, warm, and practical – not overcrowded, not trendy for the sake of trends, and definitely not filled with things we won’t actually use.
After researching, reading reviews, and receiving feedback from other mom’s, here’s exactly what I’m buying for our nursery – and why.

Blackout Blinds

The more I researched newborn sleep, the more I saw the same pattern-babies tend to sleep longer in darker environments, especially during early mornings when sunlight can wake them up sooner.
That said, I personally plan to allow some daytime n naps without full blackout conditions to help baby learn the difference between day and night. Natural light during the day can support healthy circadian rhythm development over time.

Baby Monitor
When I was researching the best WIFI baby monitor for out nursery, I was originally leaning toward the Nanit Pro. The video quality is beautiful and I loved the analytics features.
But once I looked closer, I realized a few drawbacks:
- The monitor itself is expensive upfront
- Many of the advanced sleep insights require an additional paid subscription
- Over time, the total cost adds up quickly
